Mind. Body. Music.

Piano Lessons in Winston-Salem, Greensboro,
and Online
Personalized piano instruction for children, teens, and adults of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced pianists.

Welcome to The Piano Practice! I'm Dr. Davide Bianchi, and I created this studio out of a deep passion for providing a holistic approach to piano and music. In my research and work in music, I've found that the best, most sustainable musical results are achieved by treating every student as a whole person. This informs my teaching methodology, which is built around three core pillars:

Mind. Developing efficient learning strategies informed by the most recent neuroscientific findings to navigate practice and performance with confidence enhancing focus, self compassion, curiosity, listening, and independent musical thinking.
Body. Building healthy, biomechanically informed, efficient, and sustainable coordination at the piano through the Lister-Sink method.

Music. Exploring expression, creativity, repertoire, improvisation, and a lasting relationship with sound

A Healthy, Creative, and Individualized Approach to Piano Study.

Learning music is never only about learning notes. Piano study also develops focus, patience, creativity, discipline, confidence, listening, problem-solving, and self-awareness. Skills that students carry into many other areas of life.

At The Piano Practice, my goal is to help every student become increasingly independent, curious, and expressive. I believe students learn best when they understand why they are doing something, rather than simply being told what to do. For this reason, I encourage questions, dialogue, experimentation, and active participation in the learning process. Healthy technique, reading, musical understanding, and sustainable physical and psychological habits are all essential parts of our teaching. I also use free improvisation to help students explore sound, imagination, listening, and musical decision-making without the pressure of always being “right.”

Above all, I want students to develop a healthy, personal, and lasting relationship with music.
